Drea Dawn's Red Sky at Night

My daughter, Andrea Dawn, wanted an orange lap quilt to go with her sunset scene comforter set. Orange makes me cringe, but I agreed. While choosing fabrics, I found myself choosing blenders with lots of fuchsia, another sunset color. The comforter features palm trees in black, so I added black for a little contrast.

The overall design uses blended nine-patch blocks for a feel of clouds at sunset. This quilt was a real stretch for me, flying blind, adding blocks to the design wall and seeing what was needed next. I was pleased with the results, though!

Parallel lives I am sure... I made my daughter (Melissa Dawn)a bed quilt with a backing of a multi shaded reddish to ORANGE!!! I quilted it in shades of orange variegated thread
so that it would be reversible.

Anyway chica, I love the colours and the quilt.
